Public and Private Investigation Protocol and Ethics
These are the basic guidelines and expectations that I have for everyone attending my public or private investigations.
My goal for the evening is to have each of us use our abilities to gather researchable information from the spirits who are residing. What I mean by researchable is that we need to ask, in whichever way possible, questions to the spirits to help identify them. Don’t spend a ton of time asking questions that can not be researched; such as asking them to do things like turn the light on, or turn the light off, or can you leave your voice, or tell us how many are in a room, etc… This investigation is about identification; male/female, age, why they are there at the location, are they connected in some way to the property, what did they do for work, how did they die, what are the reasons they have not moved on? Do they have family in the town, etc.. ask questions that can help tie them to the property and can be researched.
When investigating, always remember that many spirits at times can be attempting to answer a question. I see this often with many people in a room trying to use tools and ask questions. For this reason, I encourage dividing up into small groups. This helps to really connect and gather information one on one from the spirit/spirits. Make sure you ask simple questions, and re-check those questions again. Remember that all spirits don’t always answer honestly, so keep this in mind. Some want to tell you exactly who they are, and some are a bit hesitant. Gather as much as you can from one spirit at a time and allow them time to answer. Use devices that you can get answers to. Use your senses for those who are mediums and sensitives and then use rods or pendulums or flashlights to get more of a connection to questions from the spirit.
Gathering physical evidence is good and needed here also, and why some of you are coming to gather some evp’s and video. We have a nice balance of tech and sensitive attending and each have their own style of investigating.
INVESTIGATION
Understand that each sensitive person that is attending needs to be able to not be interrupted when they are investigating. Many of us who are mediums/sensitive need to wander where we are drawn and need to be able to sit and talk to the spirit without any interruptions. If you see someone lost in thought, or pondering and tuning in, please do not interrupt them.

When it comes time to present to the owner, a full case profile with evidence, this will be given to the owner at one time. PLEASE DO NOT message the owner.
- All people participating in the investigation are encouraged to share a written observation of your experiences, opinions, evidence and such in a document that I can add to the file or on the Facebook group if you wish. Often comparing all the information can really give a good overall view and also validation for the owner. It is amazing how many will have similar experiences as yours but never share. So it helps bring conversation and validation to all who maybe don't speak up.
- Each person participating will sign a basic waiver for Karen Tatro and the property home owner..
- Anyone arriving visibly under the influence and is disruptive to the evening will be asked to leave with no refunds of the evening. We are all here to have a great time, however, excessive behavior under the influence is not accepted.
- There are no ceremonies or Crossing spirit over at my events. This is not the proper place to conduct crossing over spirits. PERIOD! My personal view on crossing spirits over is that this is something that is done when the medium has established a friendship of trust and integrity with the spirit needing assistance. There are many deeply rooted reasons why a spirit is feeling stuck in a location, and often these are deeply emotional situations that the spirit alone needs to help release. Much like seeing a therapist, where the therapist helps the client release their own inner struggles so they can move on and live freely. Being a Medium is much like being a therapist for spirits in need of assistance. If you feel that a spirit is in need of assistance, you are to let Karen Tatro know and she will assess this situation at a different time with the owner of the establishment. *If I hear or see anyone attempting to do this, you will be asked to leave with no refunds.
- Please be respectful that everyone attending has their own belief systems on many important topics with the afterlife, such as religious beliefs and personal beliefs based on experience. We are not here to project our own beliefs on guests attending. I pride myself on allowing people to attend my events to experience for themselves the spirits that reside and many times these experiences can be highly life changing and often experiences can be purposely designed for that individual by the spirits residing or their own spirit guides that walk with them. What they may be experiencing is for them alone and no one else to critique or judge.

- I will allow the KarenTatro Spirit Medium and staff, to take pictures, audio recordings, and video recordings, as part of their paranormal investigation in my establishment or home listed at the address above. I realize that the nature of paranormal investigation means my voice or likeliness may be recorded. Therefore, I understand that my voice or likeness may be featured in magazine articles, websites, podcasts, books, video production, or other forms of public media, however, any personal identifiable information such as name, and/or address will not be published without express written consent. I also understand that there is no money or compensation to be made to myself or family members and all persons associated with me, in regard to this investigation or the use of the investigation for future media opportunities.
- I understand that public records regarding my property will be investigated including deeds and historical information. I agree that Karen Tatro Spirit Medium and team members will not be held liable for any activities involving researching public records. I also understand that the investigation and research may yield results that could stigmatize my property and assume sole liability and responsibility regarding my state laws and regulations regarding disclosure of such information for any Real Estate transactions. I will not hold Karen Tatro Spirit Medium and representatives or Team members liable if my property becomes stigmatized as a result of the investigation or research activities.
- I understand that sometimes, paranormal activity may increase after an investigation, and do not in any way hold Karen Tatro Spirit Medium responsible for this sort of occurrence.
- I understand that I may request that Karen Tatro Spirit Medium recommend a spiritual or religious figure for ritual in the event I am uncomfortable with the activity in my establishment or home. I agree that I will not hold Karen Tatro Spirit Medium liable for any activity performed outside the scope of the investigation by any person recommended or used after said investigations. I understand that Karen Tatro Spirit Medium will make a good faith effort to recommend only qualified individuals. I also would know that any activities performed by said person could result in increased activity and will not hold Karen Tatro Spirit Medium responsible.
- In consideration for participating in Karen Tatro Spirit Medium investigations and other valuable consideration, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Karen Tatro Spirit Medium, their officers service agents and employees, hereinafter referred to as representatives, from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me or others located at the above locations, or to any property sustained by me or others located at the above locations or any property belonging to me or others located at the above locations, whether caused by the negligence of the representatives, or otherwise, participations in such activity, or while in, on or upon the premises where the activity is being conducted or in transportation to and from said premises.
- This agreement also covers all individuals at the above location that are not representatives of Karen Tatro Spirit Medium. By signing this document I agree that I am liable for anyone other than Karen Tatro Spirit Medium representatives at the location above during the investigations.
- I further hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the representatives from any loss, liability, damage or costs, including court costs and attorney’s fees, that may occur due to my participation in said activity, whether caused by the negligence of representatives or otherwise.
- It is my express intent that this investigation contract, waiver of liability, and indemnification agreement shall bind the members of my family and spouse if any, if I am alive, and my heirs, assigns and personal representatives, if I am not alive, shall be deemed as a release, waiver, discharge, and covenant not to sue the above named representatives. I hereby further agree that this investigation contract, waiver of liability, and indemnification agreement shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the state for which the event is held.
- I understand that I will not be responsible for any medical costs associated with an injury that Karen Tatro Spirit Medium’s team members may sustain during investigation procedures. I know the dangers, both physical and emotional, that are associated with paranormal investigations are known to cause and understand by Karen Tatro Spirit Medium team members and they engage in subjectivity of their own free will.
- If I am able to participate in this activity, I am fully aware of the risks and hazards connected with the activity, including but not limited to the risks as noted herein, and I hereby elect to voluntary participation but just to pay inset activity, and to enter the above named premises and engage in such activities knowing that the activity may be hazardous to me and my property. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risks of loss, or any loss or damage to property owned by me, as a result of being engaged in such an activity, whether caused by the negligence of representatives or otherwise.
- I understand that Karen Tatro Spirit Medium will not be responsible for any medical costs associated with any injury I may sustain.
- I acknowledge that I have been truthful about the paranormal activities on my property and have given the most complete and accurate accounts to the best of my knowledge. I further acknowledge that I am not knowingly or willingly falsifying activities or participating in any activities to try to create situations that could stimulate paranormal activity. I agree that , to the best of my knowledge, there are no items on the premises for the sole purpose of falsifying, creating, or mimicking paranormal activity. I understand that if any members of Karen Tatro Spirit Medium do locate any gag or prank item, or any type of device being used in such a way, the investigation will be considered compromised and will be terminated immediately.
- I understand that Karen Tatro Spirit Medium or team members reserve the right to end the investigation at their discretion and will notify me of such a decision.
- In signing this release, acknowledge and represent that I have read the foregoing investigation contract, waiver of liability, and indemnification agreement, understand it, and so I voluntarily as my own free act and dee; no oral representations, statements or in dues men’s, apart from the foregoing written agreement have been made; I am at least 18 years of age and fully confident; and I execute this release for full, adequate and complete consideration fully intending to be bound by the same.

I understand that this release discharges Karen Tatro Spirit Medium from any liability or claim that I, my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against the Karen Tatro Spirit Medium with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, any services received from Karen Tatro Spirit Medium.
