We all dream about relaxing in a beach chair, breathing in moist, salty sea air. But when you can't visit the beach, you might consider going to a salt cave.
You might wonder: what is a salt cave, exactly, and what are some salt cave benefits? It's exactly what it sounds like: a man-made cave constructed entirely of salt—usually pink Himalayan salt, though dead sea salt is sometimes used too. It's designed designed to deliver a host of physical and mental benefits.
Breathing
Salt cave and salt room benefits are wrapped up in an alternative medicine technique called "halotherapy," which may help lessen the symptoms of many respiratory illnesses. How? The negative ions in salt particles may help purify the air and increase lung capacity. Other potential effects of halotherapy include:
- Help reduce inflammation and lessen mucus production, making it easier to breathe.
- Potential relief for those suffering from asthma, allergies, chronic sinus congestion, and COPD.
- Possible protection from the flu, since salt also has anti-fungal and anti-viral properties.

If the thought of that doesn't already boost your mood, consider this: the negative ions in the air may help boost your mood and give you more energy. Some visitors find it helps them with issues such as insomnia, stress, and seasonal effective disorder.
If you're feeling anxious or stressed about work, life, or anything else, a session in a salt cave can help you forget about all that. A recent study from Annals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine found that many people go to salt caves for its therapeutic benefits, and that most reported feeling better afterwards. The study concluded that the salt caves "help to support a proper lifestyle."
We suggest wearing warm and comfortable clothing. The cave is kept at 72 to 74 degrees, however, it is normal for your body temperature to drop slightly during your visit from inactivity. Blankets are provided on every chair. There is no need to remove your shoes as our cave was specifically designed without loose salt on our floors for sanitation reasons.

Welcome to this 18th century stagecoach stop, The Historic New Boston Inn. Acknowledged as Berkshire County's Oldest Inn, it has faithfully served guests and travelers since 1737. Now as an Inn with a restaurant and tavern, it has seven charming rooms, all with private baths. The 1737 Colonial Pub Has a Full liquor and Wine selection and will serve up your favorite beverage. Our handsome gathering room, known as the Gentleman's Parlor, will warm you with its wood burning stove, so you can read, watch TV, mingle, or just sit and relax. The castle’s construction began in 1885, as instructed by Doctor & Lady Johnson. Doctor Johnson was a Vermonter who went to England to study medicine. While there he met & married a wealthy lady of the aristocracy. After 7 and a half years of planning and construction the castle was completed at the sum of $1,300,000. The Johnson’s remained in the castle for only a brief time.
From the 1880’s until 1939, the castle was bought & sold numerous times. In 1939, a radio engineer named Herbert Lee Wilson, came to Vermont. He was a pioneer in the AM radio field and built radio stations all over the world. He was looking for a new location to build another station and a summer home for his family. He purchased the estate and the history of Wilson’s Castle officially starts. In the early 1940’s, Col. Wilson was noted for his engineering and radio work in Vermont. He designed radio station WHWB, owned by the Wilson’s and Charles Bates through the Central Vermont Broadcasting Corporation. Other radio work included WSYB in Rutland, Vermont which had the first directional antenna in the state of Vermont. Col. Wilson also provided engineering on WCAX channel 3 television station in Burlington, Vermont.
When America joined WWII in 1941, Herbert Wilson joined the Army Signal Corps, from which he retired in the 1950’s as rank of Colonel. He retired to the castle, and in 1962, opened it for tours. He passed away in 1981 at the age of 82 and left the estate to his daughter, Blossom Wilson Davine Ladabouche. Blossom passed in 2010 and currently her daughter Denise Davine is the owner/operator.

The castle’s construction began in 1885, as instructed by Doctor & Lady Johnson. Doctor Johnson was a Vermonter who went to England to study medicine. While there he met & married a wealthy lady of the aristocracy. After 7 and a half years of planning and construction the castle was completed at the sum of $1,300,000. The Johnson’s remained in the castle for only a brief time.
From the 1880’s until 1939, the castle was bought & sold numerous times. In 1939, a radio engineer named Herbert Lee Wilson, came to Vermont. He was a pioneer in the AM radio field and built radio stations all over the world. He was looking for a new location to build another station and a summer home for his family. He purchased the estate and the history of Wilson’s Castle officially starts. In the early 1940’s, Col. Wilson was noted for his engineering and radio work in Vermont. He designed radio station WHWB, owned by the Wilson’s and Charles Bates through the Central Vermont Broadcasting Corporation. Other radio work included WSYB in Rutland, Vermont which had the first directional antenna in the state of Vermont. Col. Wilson also provided engineering on WCAX channel 3 television station in Burlington, Vermont.
When America joined WWII in 1941, Herbert Wilson joined the Army Signal Corps, from which he retired in the 1950’s as rank of Colonel. He retired to the castle, and in 1962, opened it for tours. He passed away in 1981 at the age of 82 and left the estate to his daughter, Blossom Wilson Davine Ladabouche. Blossom passed in 2010 and currently her daughter Denise Davine is the owner/operator.

All event tickets once purchased are non-refundable or transferable to another event for any circumstances. I understand life happens, however, I have to pay for your spot regardless. I price my events as reasonably as I can make them. There are no refunds. If the event is rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, a new date will be rescheduled. If you are unable to attend the new scheduled date, we can open your tickets up for re-sale. There are no refunds.
